Ria’s New Dawn: A Story of Overcoming Stress

Ria had always been an achiever. From school to college, she was always at the top. But now, in the hustle and bustle of corporate life, her days felt monotonous and heavy. Each morning began with work meetings, followed by endless emails, deadlines, and the pressure to perform. At night, thoughts of the next day’s workload haunted her. She often felt like she could barely breathe.

One evening, after an exhausting day, Ria returned home and slumped into her chair. She held her head in her hands and wondered, “How much longer can I go on like this?”

That night, she decided to call her old friend, Mithila. It had been months since they last spoke, and hearing Mithila’s cheerful voice brought a small smile to Ria’s face.

“What’s up, Ria? You sound drained,” Mithila said, concerned.

Ria poured her heart out. “Mithi, I’m done. The stress at work, the constant anxiety—it's like I’m running a race I can never win.”

Mithila listened patiently and then said, “Ria, have you ever tried meditation?”

“Meditation? How will that help?”

Mithila chuckled softly. “Listen, I used to feel just like you—overwhelmed, lost. Then one day, I tried meditation. Believe me, it not only eased my stress but also taught me to see life differently.”

Ria was intrigued. “But I don’t even know where to start.”

“It’s simple,” Mithila reassured her. “Let me guide you.”

Ria’s First Step Into Meditation

The next morning, Ria followed Mithila’s advice and chose a quiet corner of her apartment by the window—a place she’d always found peaceful. With Mithila’s help, she started a guided meditation session. Sitting on the floor with her eyes closed, she took slow, deep breaths.

At first, her mind felt restless. Thoughts kept interrupting her focus. But she remembered Mithila’s words: “Don’t fight your thoughts. Let them come and go. Just focus on your breathing.”

Gradually, she felt a sense of calm wash over her. For the first time in what felt like forever, she spent a moment with herself, free of distractions.

A New Habit, A New Life

Within weeks, meditation became a part of Ria’s daily routine. Every morning, she spent 15 minutes meditating. Slowly but surely, she began noticing significant changes in her life.

Even on hectic workdays, Ria no longer felt overwhelmed. She started taking short breaks to stretch, walk, or practice mindful breathing. In the evenings, instead of drowning in work-related worries, she read books or caught up with Mithila.

 A Shift in Perspective

One day, Ria called Mithila and said, “Mithi, you’ve changed my life. I feel lighter now. I’ve learned to make time for myself, and it feels amazing.”

Mithila smiled on the other end of the line. “That’s the secret of life, Ria. When you take care of yourself, everything else falls into place.”

 A Message for Readers
